wildbeyondexpeditionsWild Beyond Expeditions
Nature trip business providing personal transformation experiences
Focus on business planning, clarifying mission, accessing clientele

This effort I’ve done on this site is one of my favorite so far. It carries many of the ingredients that a business needs to consider when going online, and more important, the general aspects of business planning that most startup entrepreneurs skip. Eric, the client, was incredibly fun to work with, as he’s made of the real thing. Having a background in psychology and environmental nature trips, he and I collaborated in a way where both of us felt like we are making a difference. Certainly there were many technical constraints that I had to deal with, but the most enjoyable part for me was clarify his mission and helping him move from a place of stuckness to fully moving forward. Check out Eric’s comments on my testimonials page.

snazzyproductionsSnazzy Productions Concerts
Local business providing alternative music to the local community
Focus on targeted social media program, increasing traffic, small ecommerce

This one carries many of the ingredients that a business needs to consider when going online. In this case, I took Snazzy’s very old website and upgraded it all the way around. Then I built out their social media sites so that they are interactive on the site. I also automated postings so that regular notices could be generated without much effort whenever a new band is added. Plus it incorporated ecommerce for their tickets. The site’s activity has grown over the year since it was built as evidenced by the monthly reports I send them via Google Analytics tools. Another important point here, is that I built outlines that the client could follow to do their own changes and updates, which is key for any small business owner is to be able to control your own web developments as much as possible in order to rely less on external web designers.

Energy Independence Group
Green company selling clean energy solutions
Focus on small ecommerce product line and a targeted social media program

I very much enjoy working with social entrepreneurs who have a personal desire to build a business with a mission that makes a solid difference in the world. In this case it is selling solar ovens and related food preparation systems using alternative forms of energy. This group has both a for profit and a philanthropic mix. I used what is called a ‘frame’ template, which allows for easy changes as the company’s needs change. Plus it emphasizes, not just making the site pretty, but also methods for connection and relationship building using Facebook, Twitter, and other social media channels that help to build a sustainable customer base. SEO and SEO analysis tools are being used to help re-source social media and narrow in on his desired clientele over the test of time.

End of the Line Fishing Charters
Existing one man company who captains a fishing boat
Custom design withe a focus on increasing clientele via SEO and SEM

I had free reign of building this site, so I used a magazine template and adapted it to give the look an open air feel while emphasizing imagery over word content. The web design industry is advancing so fast it would be impossible for a business person to do their own site. In this one plugins and embeddings were used to leverage online emarketing needs. I am also helping my clients create simple short videos, as they go a long way further than words when it come to selling yourself. Google analysis will also be used longer term for this client in order to help re-source social media and narrow in on his desired clientele. Because in his case, he has to hang with them for full days at a time while trapped in a boat out at sea!

.

BearfootYogaCenter
Startup business in the Yoga industry
Custom design with a focus on social media promotion

I like working with wellness oriented companies because they are looking at the big picture. This site included a broad spectrum of small business startup consultation and advice. Advanced plugins and embeddings were used to leverage online solutions in eCommerce and eMarketing. Remember that websites ‘are’ your business, which is very different than the old thinking that they merely only enhance your business. This is a common misunderstanding that I can help you move beyond by showing you the amazing power of the internet.

ErbenLaw
Professional site for attorney at law
Special Design and Layout, Custom Template, Regional SEO

Professional sites are always fun for me, because I like helping the small business person. My client Robert Erben wanted an upgrade from his old site, which was not bringing him any new business. For this new site, I worked with a branding agent who is promoting Robert in both web and other traditional forms of advertising. We had to work together to be his image was consistant. Additionally, I made sure to target his audience, by doing heavy keyword research for his market and writing content for his pages to bring him local clients in the Boulder, CO area.

DryerAds
Advertising Sales Startup with Unique Offering
Website with Membership System, Promotional Newletter, SEO/SEM

Here’s an example of a business offspring that started from an existing one. My client Rich is in the laundromat business and saw the opportunity to sell ads on his dryer doors. Very unusual, as he is breaking into a brand new advertising market space. I have done way more than just make him a cool website. I have also helped him as an advisor along the way, making suggestions to help tune his new business into a lean machine.

.

Best Singing Bowls
Education and Sales of Authentic Singing Bowls
Website with Ecommerce, Blog, Automated Newsletter, Extensive SEO

These bowls are amazing and I find an attraction to working with artists to help them with business aspects of their work. Ryan’s bowl site has been on the rise in search engines for some time now. It’s cool to watch because, after long efforts tweaking the site, people are beginning to come in and buy his bowls. This site is a good example of incorporating the many nuances that most small business folks don’t think about. That’s where I come in.

Russian River Fans
Community Education and Professional Agencies
Advanced Blog with Controlled Interaction

This site project had a lot of nuances to it. First our client Ralph wanted a site that allowed for highly managed interaction with those that come to his site. Initially we suggested that we create a social community for him so that others would be highly visible and represented in their own right. However, as we learned more, it became clear that most people who would come to the site would want to make comments or ask questions, but would want to stay anonymous. Thus, we created a very sophisticated and elegant blog for him that emphasizes educational postings and will have semi-regular polls or surveys that will be taken as the blog site builds attention and activity.

.

Swanson Rivers
Rivers and Streams Renovation
Website with Articles, Blog Postings, and Educational Videos

This was a fun design project for us. It involved a river restoration firm and scientist named Mitch who needed to become visible to his existing and potential clients. After learning about his business, we put together a cool set of pages that really gets to the essence of his work. Since Mitch will be writing a lot of scientific articles and wants to use them to educate, his site also includes a blog that is integrated with widgets that help him automate notification to dozens of major social networks, which will get his articles spread to many on a regular basis. Mitch also developed educational videos with us which can be seen at this site. He will be using them to educate river renovation advocates and scientists alike.

SuperFoods
Informational Product Sales Pages
Landing Page with Blog and Newsletter

This site also demonstrates where marketing and sales is heading on the web. They are very different than traditional websites and are used when getting an online sale is the most important priority. Often, there are many supporting solutions that support this page, including newsletters, automated blogging content, and affiliate product programs. Each used to help build traffic to your site, leveraged sales solutions, and growing a data base of interested clients to go back to over and over again for secondary sales.

.

Dryer Ads Coupons
Custom Coupons Site

User Editable Coupons with Schedule and Google Maps

This site was fully customized to my clients special requests. It works with an adjacent webite where advertisers get a value-added bonus of being able to create and post their own coupons here. There’s a lot of behind the scenes design on this project that the eye does not see in order to make the coupons be postable, viewable, mappable, and presentable. This site has a next phase planned for it to improve its user interface and coupon useability. This also demonstrates how I work with my clients: A key part is working with clients and their budgets so they can get started now and then evolve once their budget and other criteria are reached.

.

Virtual Assistants Collaborative
Association for Providers of Online Business Solutions
Membership Based Social Network Community

On this site, we created an elaborate interactive social community, where people have their own web page to describe themselves and have the freedom to write blog articles for all to see, create and join discussion groups, and post YouTube videos. Since this site emphases sharing of work and clients, a number of widgets were added to help their community create high levels of interaction and communication. We offer a number of unique community platforms to choose from for the foundation of your community site. In this particular case, the site was developed using the ‘Ning’ platform. For other clients, we use BuddyPress to build a very robust and customizable social community site that is based on your specific needs.
